Earthmover places decision making at the cutting edge of information technology. Here is why:

Object-oriented database
An object-oriented database contains the machines and components you use everyday to move Real Earth™ over Real Roads™ on Real Projects™.
Object-oriented databases have distinct advantages over common relational databases which relate flat files or tables to each other by "key" fields. A "flat file" is a list of records, each record being of the same type and containing the exact same fixed-length, fixed-format fields.
Earthmover models real objects, such as trucks and loaders, which contain other objects such as engines and tires. Each object is defined by its physical and engineering characteristics which are of varying length and type. To force the modeling of real objects to a flat file design quickly compromises the power and speed of a decision-making program.

Object based icons

Loader 48c.bmp (6966 bytes)Earthmover presents objects as icons which you can move about in the program with your mouse pointer. The data and program methods underlying the icons are kept hidden to keep the user interface clean and natural. When you drive your car, you do not need to look under the hood to check if everything is there. Similarly, when you use Earthmover you do not need to check each icon's underlying data. You can, but you do not need to.

Realistic objects

Road Section 48c.bmp (6966 bytes)Our objective is to have each icon object behave and react to other objects as you would expect them to behave and react in the real world.
Behind each object icon is the object data and programming algorithms which represent the object as realistically as possible. Extensive use is made of a variety of engineering disciplines, including: powertrain design, hydraulics, soils engineering, costing, statistics, and mechanical engineering.

True point-and-click
Right-click Menu.gif (17020 bytes)   You can truly point-and-click on an object to get the information you want. On any object (including report windows... they are objects too), just right-click to see a menu of available ways of viewing or customizing a view of an object.
